Academic Dean

About the role

The Academic Dean will serve as the senior academic officer of Two Oceans Graduate Institute, reporting directly to the CEO. This senior leadership position is responsible for shaping the strategic and educational direction of the institution and driving the growth of both undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead academic affairs, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy, vision, and objectives.
• Provide strategic leadership across all academic operations and educational initiatives.
• Oversee development and implementation of academic plans, curriculum design, staff recruitment, and student engagement for the School of Education.
• Drive expansion of postgraduate offerings, contributing to institutional growth and academic excellence.
• Ensure compliance with higher education regulatory frameworks, quality assurance, accreditation, and programme review processes.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the institute’s academic reputation.
• Manage the Academic Division, including support divisions, research, compliance, and people & culture functions.
• Oversee institutional quality assurance processes related to programme design, teaching and learning, online pedagogy, and academic governance.

Required profile

• A relevant doctoral degree in Education or a cognate equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience in higher education, particularly in teacher education and academic leadership.
• Proven track record managing undergraduate and postgraduate teacher‑education programmes.
