YES Programme Student Teacher

About the role

Curro, an independent schooling provider in South Africa, offers a 12-month contractual YES Programme position as Student Teacher at Curro Fourways in Gauteng. It is a youth employment opportunity for eligible young people to gain practical experience in a school setting, working alongside educators. Duties are expected to start in January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Assist educators with lesson preparation and classroom activities, including organising resources and materials.
• Help maintain an organised classroom environment and daily learning routines.
• Support learners' engagement and encourage their participation in class.
• Provide individual assistance to learners where appropriate.
• Help with educational administration such as filing, updating learner information, photocopying and organising digital teaching resources.
• Support extracurricular activities and school events.
• Take part in training, mentorship and professional development.

Required profile

• South African youth aged 18 to 34.
• Previously unemployed.
• Qualification in Education, Early Childhood Development or related studies.
• SACE registration (provisional or conditional).
• Lives close to the school; genuine interest in working with children.
• Good communication, teamwork, reliability and basic administrative skills.

What we offer

• A monthly stipend of R5,241 to R6,000.
