XRF Laboratory Operator

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is hiring a full-time XRF Operator. The role keeps the laboratory functional, efficient and clean while preparing samples for XRF analysis, running tests and maintaining equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare samples for XRF analysis and run them on lab equipment
• Ensure quality test data and adhere to turnaround times for XRF work
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment and record daily repairs and instrument verification
• Manage laboratory inventories and supplies, and help improve the sampling programme
• Follow laboratory and safety procedures and comply with the ISO 17025 quality management system
• Work on all relevant workstations according to shift workload and perform other reasonable tasks assigned by the line manager
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 / Matric or N3 with Mathematics and Science
• 5 years of laboratory experience
• Self-starter who also takes direction
• On-the-job and formal training provided

Required skills

• LIMS system
• Chemical and other analyses using lab equipment
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
