Wine Tasting Assistant

About the role

A well‑established wine farm in Durbanville is seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and customer‑focused Wine Tasting Assistant to join the team and enhance the visitor experience.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and assist visitors and guests in the tasting room.
• Conduct wine tastings and provide information about varieties, tasting notes and winemaking processes.
• Assist customers with wine selections and make recommendations.
• Process sales using the point‑of‑sale system and handle cash and card transactions accurately.
• Maintain a clean, well‑stocked tasting area and support opening and closing procedures.
• Help with wine events, functions and special tastings as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in hospitality, retail or customer service is advantageous.
• Genuine interest in wine and willingness to learn about cultivars and winemaking.
• Excellent communication, friendly and well‑presented with strong customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and speak English and Afrikaans.
• Willingness to work two weekends per month; a wine qualification (e.g., WSET) is a plus.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
• Basic cash‑handling and POS system operation.
