Veterinarian – Domestic and Wild Animals

About the role

An established veterinary hospital in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, dedicated to caring for both domestic and wild animals, is seeking an experienced and passionate veterinarian. The hospital offers a diverse caseload ranging from routine consultations and preventative care to complex medical procedures, within a supportive, collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, examine and diagnose patients' medical conditions
• Perform surgical procedures, wound care and treatments
• Carry out diagnostic laboratory work, imaging and ultrasound where required
• Prescribe and manage medical treatments
• Promote preventative health through vaccinations and wellness care
• Educate and guide clients on pet care and lifestyle choices
• Perform humane euthanasia when necessary
• Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics, policies and legislation
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records

Required profile

• BVSc degree
• Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)
• Approximately 2 years of postgraduate veterinary experience (advertised as 3-5 years)
• Strong commitment to patient care and client service
