Versatile Chef Tournant / Sous Chef

About the role

Lanzerac Estate is seeking a versatile Chef Tournant / Sous Chef to work across multiple kitchen stations as needed. Reporting to the Head Chef, the role demands flexibility, strong technical culinary skills and the ability to maintain high food quality in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all kitchen operations and stations adhere to company policies, procedures and culinary standards.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain consistent food quality across all sections.
• Support multiple kitchen stations (hot, cold, pastry, grill) based on operational needs.
• Oversee proper receipt, storage, temperature monitoring and rotation of food items in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
• Uphold strict food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Step in for chefs off duty to ensure continuity and smooth workflow.
• Apply creativity, flexibility and strong culinary knowledge while working efficiently under pressure.

Required profile

• Good written and verbal communication in English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Proven kitchen management experience in a similar establishment.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently and delegate tasks.
• Capability to work long hours, under high pressure and physically demanding conditions.
• Punctual, energetic, loyal, hard‑working and reliable attendance.
• Own transportation and availability to work shifts, including public holidays and weekends.
