Utilities Operator – Water & Boiler Systems

About the role

The Utilities Operator is responsible for ensuring continuous, high‑quality water supply, cooling, and steam generation for manufacturing processes. The role focuses on operating, maintaining, and monitoring water treatment, cooling towers, chillers, and boiler systems while complying with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Follow and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Management System (QMS) records for all utility processes.
• Perform autonomous (Level 1‑4) maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and preventative tasks on water treatment, cooling, and boiler equipment.
• Execute cleaning‑in‑place (CIP) cycles for the water treatment plant, including sand and carbon filters, supply tanks, and distribution lines.
• Manage waste disposal in line with company policies and environmental regulations.
• Diagnose breakdowns, conduct root‑cause analysis (5 Whys), and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Monitor water consumption, pressure levels (30‑40 bar), and cooling system performance to meet operational efficiency targets.

Required profile

• Experience in industrial utilities such as water treatment, cooling towers, chillers, or boiler operations.
• Ability to follow SOPs, maintain accurate documentation, and adhere to health‑safety standards.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on reducing fault detection and correction times.
