UIF Skills Programme – Retail Frontline, Butchery, Bakery & Beauty

About the role

The UIF Skills Programme is a six‑month, on‑site training initiative designed to give unemployed South African youth practical experience across key retail functions. Participants rotate through frontline, butchery, bakery and health‑and‑beauty areas while receiving structured learning and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through multiple store departments to understand daily retail operations.
• Provide direct customer service and support in frontline, bakery, butchery and health‑beauty sections.
• Develop specialist product knowledge, from fresh produce to beauty items.
• Assist with merchandising, stock handling and in‑store presentation.
• Complete online learning modules that complement hands‑on training.

Required profile

• Unemployed South African youth aged 18‑40.
• Successful completion of Grade 12 (Matric).
• Strong interest in retail, food preparation or health‑beauty sectors.
• Willingness to learn, work in a team and engage with customers.
