Turner Machinist – Skilled Trades

About the role

The Turner Machinist works closely with production to ensure safety, equipment integrity and high‑quality output. Based in the tool room, the role is central to maintaining tool and fixture availability, precision and uptime for the manufacturing line.

Key responsibilities

• Produce machine parts from drawings or samples using lathes, milling, jig‑boring and grinding machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe production area and record unsafe conditions promptly.
• Apply the 20 key principles, relevant environmental regulations and quality standards (IATF 16949, VDA6, ISO9002, QS9000).
• Standardise processes, record work, and ensure on‑time delivery of jobs.
• Generate ideas and implement improvement initiatives within time and cost constraints.

Required profile

• Completed Grade 12/Matric or NQF Level 4.
• Trade test qualification as a Turner Machinist.
• Approximately 5 years of experience in metal work, preferably in a manufacturing or foundry environment.
• Knowledge of foundry operations is advantageous.
