Transport Controller

About the role

The Waste Control Division is seeking a motivated and organized Transport Controller to oversee daily logistics and ensure seamless transport operations for our waste management services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day transport service requirements and resource planning.
• Conduct daily briefings and debriefings with drivers.
• Plan vehicle routing, scheduling, and monitor vehicle movements.
• Maintain highest customer service standards.
• Ensure fleet roadworthiness, branding, and cleanliness.
• Supervise drivers and general assistants, handling discipline, time‑keeping and attendance.
• Communicate and report across required platforms.
• Liaise with Human Resources on staff matters.
• Uphold Occupational Health and Safety requirements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Previous fleet controlling experience (advantageous).
• Transport Management or related qualification (advantageous).
• Proven leadership ability and ability to lead by example.
• Code 14 driver’s licence and PrDP (advantageous).
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Microsoft Office).
• Working knowledge of vehicle tracking systems.
• Self‑motivated, accurate, goal‑oriented with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to analyse verbal instructions, multitask, work independently and within a team, and meet deadlines.
