Transition & Planning Manager/Consultant

About the role

Our client in Midrand is entering a critical period of change and needs a Transition & Planning Manager/Consultant to anchor the organisation through this transformation. You will own end‑to‑end planning, scheduling and tracking of all transition activities from the signing of the Transition Agreement to the start of operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the overall transition and modernisation programme from an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) perspective.
• Take daily operational ownership of the master transition schedule, building and optimising complex schedules with proper predecessor/successor logic.
• Analyse the schedule to identify critical and near‑critical paths, and work with workstream leads to create recovery plans.
• Proactively chase workstream leads for critical deliverables and mitigate potential delays.
• Maintain a dynamic risk and issue register linked to schedule impacts.
• Coordinate with internal O&M teams and external stakeholders to map interfaces, commercial dependencies and document transfer deadlines.
• Prepare agendas, pre‑read materials and action‑oriented minutes for workgroup meetings and executive reviews.
• Manage the PMO’s master document structure on SharePoint, ensuring version control and clear taxonomy.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale transition, mobilisation or modernisation programmes, preferably in an O&M environment.
• Strong ability to manage budgets, risks and stakeholder expectations.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret schedules and identify critical paths.
• Effective communication and coordination skills across multiple workstreams.
