Training and Development Manager – Restaurant Area Coach / Skills Trainer

About the role

The Training and Development Manager – Restaurant Area Coach / Skills Trainer will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of learning programmes for restaurant staff across multiple locations in Gauteng. Based on‑site, you will ensure consistent operational standards and exceptional customer service through effective training and coaching.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and update training curricula, modules and materials aligned with restaurant operations and customer service standards.
• Deliver classroom sessions, on‑the‑job training and workshops to frontline and managerial staff.
• Conduct skills assessments, monitor performance metrics and identify gaps in knowledge or capability.
• Collaborate with area and store managers to embed learning into daily routines and support continuous improvement.
• Implement development plans, track progress and measure training impact using key performance indicators.
• Maintain and utilise digital learning platforms, including Learning Management Systems, to deliver and record training activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in training and employee development, preferably within the restaurant, hospitality or retail sector.
• Hands‑on ability to facilitate workshops, on‑the‑job coaching and classroom instruction.
• Knowledge of instructional design principles and ability to create engaging learning content.
• Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Organisational and time‑management capability to handle multiple initiatives across several locations.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Training & Development, Human Resources, Education or related field is preferred.
