Technology Risk and Assurance Graduate

About the role

BDO Wave is recruiting a graduate for its Technology Risk and Assurance Early in Career (EIC) programme, based in Cape Town. The programme is aimed at ambitious graduates and early-career professionals and combines structured training, professional development and hands-on client experience. You will work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse portfolio of clients, contributing to real engagements from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Support the assessment and testing of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and technology-enabled business processes, and evaluate whether controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
• Assist in identifying control deficiencies and areas for improvement, and support reviews of user access management, change management, privileged access and technology operations controls.
• Evaluate technology risks and mitigating controls, and collect and analyse evidence for technology risk assurance engagements.
• Take part in walkthroughs with client stakeholders and document systems, processes and controls according to BDO methodologies.
• Prepare high-quality working papers, assist in preparing engagement reports and client deliverables, and gain an understanding of governance, risk and control frameworks.
• Learn and apply BDO UK methodologies, quality standards and documentation requirements, and take part in training, coaching and quality improvement activities.
• Develop knowledge of key technology risks and industry good practices, and learn the tools and technologies used to enhance assurance delivery.
• Support automation, standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives, and work as part of integrated UK and South African teams.
