Technical Specialist

About the role

The Technical Specialist will provide senior technical and clinical leadership for the Global Fund PWID programme in South Africa. This role ensures that programme design and implementation align with national and international guidance while supporting high‑quality harm‑reduction and HIV/TB/hepatitis services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical and clinical aspects of the Global Fund PWID programme.
• Ensure programme design and implementation follow national and international guidelines.
• Support delivery of harm‑reduction, HIV, TB and hepatitis services.
• Strengthen site capacity and service readiness.
• Act as a technical bridge between the programme, PWID sector, SANAC, government and civil‑society stakeholders.
• Provide clinical governance, systems strengthening, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and technical reporting.

Required profile

• Proven clinical credibility and senior programme leadership experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and public‑health insight.
• Experience in harm‑reduction, PWID programmes and HIV/TB/hepatitis service delivery.
• Knowledge of South African and international health guidelines.
