Technical Sales Engineer – Underground Mining

About the role

Network Contracting Solutions is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer with a strong background in underground mining. The role combines engineering expertise with sales acumen to deliver tailored equipment and solutions to mining customers across South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, develop and maintain relationships with underground mining customers.
• Promote and sell engineering equipment, components and technical solutions to mines and contractors.
• Conduct regular visits to underground operations and head offices.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations and tenders.
• Interpret customer requirements and recommend suitable engineering solutions.
• Deliver product presentations and technical demonstrations.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and service teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide after‑sales support and resolve technical queries.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and new business opportunities.
• Achieve sales targets while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
• Compile sales reports, forecasts and pipeline updates.
• Travel extensively to customer sites across South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Required profile

• National Diploma, BTech or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mining or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 3–8 years’ experience as a Technical Sales Engineer or Sales Engineer.
• Proven experience selling engineering products into the underground mining sector.
• Strong exposure to underground mining operations and production environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience preparing quotations, tenders and technical proposals.
• Excellent negotiation, presentation and relationship management skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively.
