Technical Publisher – TVET (Engineering & Occupational Subjects)

About the role

Macmillan Education South Africa, part of Springer Nature, is looking for an energetic Technical Publisher to lead the creation of high‑quality TVET content for engineering and occupational subjects. The role is based in Johannesburg and involves managing the full publishing lifecycle from concept to market.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise and manage development of TVET educational materials that meet regulatory and curriculum standards.
• Maintain and track publishing projects against schedules and budgets.
• Research, plan and present proposals for new or revised content.
• Administer budgets, records and contracts with meticulous attention to detail.
• Identify, brief and coordinate authors, reviewers and subject‑matter experts.
• Negotiate contracts and fees, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Produce marketing collateral for sales and promotional activities.
• Engage with colleges and institutions to understand customer needs.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in technical publishing or a related field within the TVET sector.
• Strong knowledge of TVET regulatory, curriculum and teaching requirements.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets and deliver publications on time.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience in developing marketing materials for educational products.
