Technical Designer – Product Development

About the role

Rock Processing is seeking a dedicated Technical Designer to develop and design products, equipment and tools that meet high quality and performance standards. Reporting to the Drawing Office Manager, the role is based in Spartan, Kempton Park and involves close collaboration with manufacturing partners and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Review product development requirements and assess cost and schedule implications.
• Integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet target specifications.
• Hand over methods, processes and equipment to production teams.
• Utilise CAD and CAE systems to model designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
• Specify functional requirements, design, test and integrate components, and evaluate effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety.
• Develop and execute fitness‑for‑use testing, product specifications and process validation plans.
• Create and review material part specifications and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Generate technical data packs, mass estimates for tenders and ensure all tolerances, machining and material treatments are defined.
• Travel to customer sites for measurements and support on‑site activities.
• Maintain accurate electronic drawing files and contribute to new technical standards and training material.
