Tax Manager

About the role

A well‑established professional services firm is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to lead its tax department. The role involves managing a team of tax professionals and overseeing complex tax matters for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage the tax team, allocate workloads and monitor performance.
• Oversee preparation and review of tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and other entities.
• Manage provisional tax submissions, payroll tax reconciliations and annual compliance obligations.
• Handle SARS correspondence, audits, objections and dispute resolution, representing clients.
• Provide strategic tax advice, prepare technical opinions and research complex legislation.
• Advise on tax planning, structuring, international and trust‑related taxation.
• Maintain statutory tax registrations, records and documentation, and monitor legislative changes.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering professional consultations and supporting partners with technical expertise.

Required profile

• BCom Degree with Tax, Advanced Certificate in Tax, HDip Tax or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years’ proven experience in taxation, including tax compliance and advisory.
• Extensive experience managing a tax department or team.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS processes.
