Tax Compliance Officer / Administrator

About the role

The Tax Compliance Officer / Administrator will ensure full tax compliance for a portfolio of clients, handling returns, queries and deadlines in line with South African Revenue Service (SARS) requirements. This full‑time position supports both the firm and its clients with accurate tax administration and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit individual, provisional, corporate, VAT, trust and non‑profit tax returns via SARS e‑Filing.
• Monitor tax deadlines, manage penalties and interest, and maintain compliance trackers.
• Liaise with SARS on verifications, audits, disputes, payment arrangements and tax registrations.
• Communicate tax liabilities and deadlines to clients, providing basic guidance and follow‑up.
• Maintain accurate working papers, tax computations, reconciliations and compliance registers.

Required profile

• Qualification in taxation; registration as a Tax Practitioner is advantageous.
• 2–5 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably within an accounting practice.
• Proven experience dealing directly with SARS queries and objections.
