Specialist: Programme and Project Management

About the role

The Road Accident Fund provides social benefits to people affected by motor vehicle accidents. This Specialist reports to the Senior Manager: Programme Delivery Management and works across small to medium projects with cross-functional teams and external service providers. The role covers preparing governance documents according to the Project Delivery Management methodology, and planning, executing and finalising projects within budget and strict deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Reporting: prepare and submit regulation reports, develop functional reporting systems, and prepare proposals, briefings, presentations and reports for management.
• Project management: define project plan and scope, develop full-scale project plans, manage project budgets, prepare governance documents, maintain project artefacts, proactively manage changes, facilitate meetings and drive business units on their assumptions.
• Risk and compliance: plan proactively to mitigate project risks, report on issues and risks, and comply with policies and procedures.
• Team oversight: manage, plan, schedule, estimate, control and deliver project activities, direct and manage project teams and monitor project status.
• Policy review: contribute to developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures and processes.
• Stakeholder management: engage internal stakeholders, create project awareness among employees, and delegate enquiries and information requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Project Management, ICT-related qualification or equivalent.
• 5 to 7 years of experience managing projects, including transversal projects.
• Experience in insurance, financial services or information technology project management environments.
• Experience with project management tools; exposure to Agile project management is an added advantage.
