Specialised Nurse - Neonatal ICU

About the role

Mediclinic Midstream in Centurion, South Africa is recruiting one permanent, on-site Specialised Nurse for its Neonatal ICU. The main purpose of the role is to deliver safe, comprehensive and quality nursing care in line with the Scope of Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
• Ensure that all used stock and equipment are accurately charged

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential)
• Desired: Midwifery, or a postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty area
• Essential minimum experience: none stated
• Desired: 1 year of post-graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit

• Infection prevention and control
• Pharmacology
• Scientific nursing principles and processes
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment
• Developing and modifying nursing care plans
• Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation
• Basic life support: ACLS, ATLS and PALS training for specialised wards
