Solution Architect (Cloud) – 12‑Month Contract

About the role

The Cloud Solution Architect will define, design and govern the organisation’s cloud strategy and implementation roadmap over a 12‑month contract. Working closely with business leaders, engineering and security teams, you will ensure cloud platforms are secure, scalable, resilient and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise cloud architecture standards, principles and reference architectures.
• Create cloud adoption roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies.
• Design secure, highly available and resilient cloud solutions across application modernisation, data platforms, AI and digital initiatives.
• Review and approve solution designs to ensure compliance with architecture standards.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement cloud security controls, identity and access management, encryption and network security.
• Drive cloud cost optimisation, FinOps practices and operational excellence through automation and monitoring.
• Support migration of applications, data and infrastructure from on‑premise to cloud environments.
• Engage with stakeholders, present architecture strategies to senior management and mentor technical teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• 8–12 years of IT experience with at least 5 years in cloud architecture and design.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise‑scale cloud solutions and governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of security, risk, compliance and regulatory requirements in cloud environments.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform.
• TOGAF architecture framework.
• Kubernetes (CKA certification preferred).
• FinOps and cloud cost optimisation.
• Cloud security, identity and access management.
