Software Engineering Automation Specialist

About the role

This position is based in Centurion and offers the chance to work in a highly innovative engineering environment focused on digital transformation and DevOps excellence. You will play a key role in driving automation, requirements management, and process optimisation across complex product development programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Drive improvements in requirements management, traceability and baseline maintenance throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with standards such as DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754A and EN9100.
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and related toolsets, supporting continuous integration, testing, delivery and deployment.
• Manage and enhance Jira workflows, reporting systems and engineering dashboards, and administer LDAP authentication environments.
• Develop, maintain and optimise automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and integrate engineering tools.
• Collaborate with global teams on cloud deployment, infrastructure‑as‑code and container technologies (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
• Support migration from legacy systems and contribute to cybersecurity compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• BEng in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent; Honours or Master’s degree is advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years experience in software, systems engineering or product development, preferably in regulated or safety‑critical industries.
• Proven exposure to Agile, Scrum, DevOps and continuous integration methodologies.

• IBM DOORS (Classic and Next Generation) for requirements management.

• SQL and MySQL databases.

• CI/CD pipeline development and automated testing.

• Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) and IaaS concepts.
