Software Engineer – YES Programme

About the role

Join Pragma’s Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme as a Software Engineer and gain 12 months of paid, hands‑on experience in a purpose‑driven industrial and asset‑management environment. You will work with modern technologies, including AI‑assistive tools, to build and maintain web applications while developing professional software‑engineering habits.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver high‑quality software components that meet the Product Owner’s acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with the QA Manager to ensure code meets testing standards and quality benchmarks.
• Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents promptly.
• Continuously learn and adopt new technical tools, especially AI‑assistive development technologies.
• Mentor and coach fellow team members as you grow.

Required profile

• A tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree or Diploma) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Enthusiasm for using AI‑assistive tools throughout the software‑development lifecycle.
• Strong willingness to learn, adapt, and work collaboratively in a team‑oriented setting.

Required skills

• JavaScript (ES6) – advantageous.
• HTML & CSS – preferred.
• React and TypeScript – preferred.
• Component‑based architecture experience – advantageous.
• Familiarity with state‑management libraries such as Zustand or TanStack Query.
• Understanding of REST APIs and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with AI‑assistive development technologies.
