Software Developer

About the role

Nedbank is looking for a Software Developer to turn detailed designs into high‑quality code, mentor junior developers and contribute to large‑scale, fault‑tolerant systems. You will work within an Agile environment, collaborating with designers, product owners and engineering leads.

Key responsibilities

• Produce working software that meets design specifications and quality standards.
• Develop complex technical components and ensure they are robust, maintainable and reusable.
• Create unit and system test cases, conduct testing and document results.
• Generate deployment artefacts, manage source‑control libraries and oversee deployment execution.
• Provide maintenance, support and continuous improvement for owned applications.
• Estimate effort, troubleshoot issues and mentor other developers.
• Collaborate with Biz/Dev/Ops engineers to optimise tools and integrate work across teams.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; diploma or certificate in multiple programming languages preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of professional programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, application systems, Agile development and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, manage work and deliver quality outcomes.
