Software Craftsperson – Flutter & React (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a mid‑level Software Craftsperson with strong expertise in Flutter and React to join a remote team based in South Africa. The role focuses on building high‑quality, maintainable mobile applications while collaborating with senior engineers and leveraging AI‑assisted development tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver product features and medium‑sized engineering challenges, with support from senior engineers as needed.
• Apply sound technical judgment to create reliable, maintainable, and pragmatic solutions.
• Take ownership of feature‑level outcomes, proactively identifying quality, design, and delivery concerns.
• Break down ambiguous problems, assess risks and dependencies, and communicate them early.
• Deliver small, valuable increments using an MVP‑oriented approach while maintaining a high quality bar.
• Write clean, test‑driven code and continuously improve existing implementations through refactoring.
• Apply software craftsmanship principles such as tidy‑first and scout‑rule practices.
• Consider non‑functional requirements including performance, security, usability and scalability.
• Collaborate transparently with teammates, sharing progress, blockers, decisions and next steps.
• Share technical learnings and provide constructive feedback to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience developing applications with Flutter and Dart.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining mobile applications for both Android and iOS.
• Experience with state‑management solutions in Flutter.
• Strong understanding of test‑driven development and software craftsmanship.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with a distributed team.
