Skills Development Manager

About the role

Ackermans is looking for a Skills Development Manager to lead the delivery of a critical function that ensures compliance, supports funding, and builds capability across the business. You will drive the implementation of our Skills Development Strategy and align it with the National Skills Act, B‑BBEE Skills Development pillar, and the transition to QCTO‑aligned occupational qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the Skills Development Strategy across all business units.
• Ensure compliance with the National Skills Act, B‑BBEE requirements and QCTO occupational qualification frameworks.
• Coordinate complex Skills Development initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Manage accreditation of skills and leadership programmes.
• Oversee the full spectrum of learning and development processes, from planning to evaluation.
• Conduct financial analysis and budgeting for Skills Development activities.
• Maintain strong relationship management and influencing capabilities with internal and external partners.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of training and development experience, including SDF and/or B‑BBEE implementation.
• Retail sector experience is preferred.
• Degree or diploma in HR, Training, or a related field; further qualification in ETDP is advantageous.
• In‑depth knowledge of BBBEE priority elements, W&R SETA programmes, the South African Qualifications Framework and QCTO landscape.
• Detail‑oriented, resilient and able to work in a highly regulated environment.
