Site Reliability Engineer (TechOps)

About the role

A leading bank and financial services organisation, recruited by NNW Tech Solutions, is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (TechOps) for its Private Client Technology team in Johannesburg. The role improves system reliability and performance through software development, automation and infrastructure operations, with a focus on C#/.NET, Microsoft Azure and Infrastructure as Code.

Key responsibilities

• Understand, troubleshoot and improve C#/.NET application code, focusing on production behaviour, failure modes and supportability.
• Build automation, utilities and reusable engineering patterns that reduce toil and improve recovery and developer experience.
• Apply modern engineering practices: version control, peer review, testing, secure coding and maintainable design.
• Engineer and support reliable services on Microsoft Azure, contributing to resilient, scalable and cost-aware cloud designs.
• Design and support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, and create infrastructure as code with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates or similar.
• Use GitOps to manage infrastructure and application configuration through version control and automated deployment.
• Implement telemetry using logs, metrics, traces, dashboards and alerts, and work with tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, New Relic, Splunk or Grafana.
• Take part in production troubleshooting and incident response, turn incident learning into reliability improvements, and define service-level indicators and objectives.

Required profile

• Strong to intermediate hands-on C#/.NET development experience, including troubleshooting production code.
• Practical cloud experience; Microsoft Azure is strongly preferred.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, deployment automation and modern software delivery practices.
• Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience and practical monitoring, observability and alerting experience.
• Advantageous but not required: AKS/Kubernetes, Docker, event-driven architectures, messaging, distributed systems and performance engineering.
• Proficiency with AI-enabled productivity tools such as Copilot.
