Site Reliability Engineer (Junior-Intermediate)

About the role

This is a junior‑intermediate Site Reliability Engineer position with a leading South African payments fintech. Based in Cape Town, you will work on cloud‑native payment platforms that process millions of transactions daily.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and improve reliability, observability and automation for large‑scale AWS environments.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance deployment safety, monitoring, alerting and CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Maintain and extend observability stacks such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK and Loki.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, ensuring high availability of payment services.

Required profile

• BSc in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of software engineering experience with exposure to SRE, DevOps or platform engineering.
• Strong coding or scripting skills, preferably in Python.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS and modern cloud‑native infrastructure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and automation.
