Settlements Manager - Investor Services

About the role

Absa is looking for a Settlements Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end settlements operation for Asset and Investor Services (AIS). The role ensures every transaction is processed accurately, efficiently and within agreed service standards, and leads the execution, monitoring, verification and authorisation of operational transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Safeguard timely settlement by ensuring transactions meet market, regulatory and internal cut-off times.
• Optimise team capacity through workload allocation, resource planning and business continuity management.
• Identify and deliver opportunities for process optimisation, automation and efficiency gains.
• Use KPIs and management information to monitor results, spot trends and drive corrective action.
• Embed adherence to operating procedures, quality standards and control requirements.
• Lead resolution of operational incidents, client queries and escalations.
• Maintain procedures, documentation and control frameworks that support governance and audit readiness.
• Contribute to the review and enhancement of policies, procedures and governance standards.
• Ensure operational records are accurate, secure, accessible and retained correctly.
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly operational controls and checklists, and report on performance, risks and key management information.

Required profile

• Diploma or NQF Level 6 qualification.
• 6.5 years' or more experience in custody operations, with strong knowledge of settlements and operational controls.
• Sound knowledge of regulatory and statutory requirements, including the South African Reserve Bank and Strate rules.
• Thorough understanding of custody and settlements processes, transaction lifecycles and operational risks.
• Proven experience in a customer-facing environment, managing complex queries and senior stakeholder expectations.
• Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Business, Commerce and Management Studies (required).
