Service Technician – Wind Farm Operations

About the role

Vestas is seeking a motivated Service Technician to support the Ishwati Wind Farm in South Africa. The role involves performing intermediate‑level maintenance and installation tasks on wind turbines, ensuring safety standards are met, and documenting work in the company system.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety standards, act as a safety role model and identify safety gaps.
• Perform intermediate wind turbine maintenance and installation tasks, operating specialized calibration, hydraulic and power tools.
• Document tasks and enter data into SAP.
• Gather turbine performance information, diagnose routine issues and recommend solutions.
• Follow structured problem‑solving processes using diagnostic tools such as Fluke meters and hydraulic pressure gauges.
• Support teammates, mentor lower‑level staff and promote continuous improvement.
• Interface with customers, respond to inquiries and refer complex issues to senior technical staff.

Required profile

• Tertiary diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one (1) year of technical wind industry experience, or six (6) months plus a certificate of completion.
• Strong focus on safety, integrity and quality of work.
