Senior State Advocate

About the role

The National Prosecutions Services seeks an experienced Senior State Advocate to lead the prosecution of serious, complex and organised crime cases, including terrorism and terror financing matters.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct prosecutions of high‑profile organised crime and terrorism cases and advise police on investigations.
• Perform legal research, draft charge sheets, heads of argument and other court documents, and represent the State in all courts.
• Present cases, lead witnesses, cross‑examine, and handle motions, appeals and reviews.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings for the Organised Crime Unit and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• LLB degree with at least eight years post‑qualification experience in civil or criminal litigation.
• Minimum three years experience prosecuting organised crime cases; advocacy and courtroom proficiency required.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, professionally and with accountability.
• Strong computer literacy and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
