Senior Sous Chef - 5-Star Hotel (Stellenbosch)

About the role

A Stellenbosch 5-star hotel, described as a historical landmark in the Winelands region, is looking for a Senior Sous Chef through its recruitment partner. The role supports the Executive Chef in managing and directing all aspects of kitchen operations and personnel, and suits someone with a strong background in management, administration and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Executive Chef in managing and directing kitchen operations and staff
• Assist with menu planning, recipe costing and efficient food consumption
• Maintain strict stock controls, manage stock movement and rotation, and build good supplier relationships
• Control food costs, minimise wastage and optimise kitchen preparation processes
• Train and develop staff and foster a positive work environment

Required profile

• Proven experience managing and leading a busy five-star hotel kitchen
• Strong commitment to quality, leadership ability, stability and the ability to perform under pressure
• Formal culinary education, reliable transport and a valid driver's licence
• Candidates living in the Winelands region are preferred; only South African citizens or permanent residents are considered, and no work permits are accepted
