Senior Software Engineer (Backend) - Issuance

About the role

BVNK, the stablecoin-powered financial stack for enterprises and part of Mastercard, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) for its Issuance team. The team builds the stablecoin issuance capability that lets enterprises launch and run their own stablecoins. You will design and build the backend services covering the full token lifecycle, from minting and burning to compliance controls and APIs, and connect on-chain smart contract operations to the wider platform. The company offers a hybrid/remote working policy.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable backend services and APIs for stablecoin issuance, including mint and burn flows, supply management and token configuration.
• Build compliance controls such as freeze/unfreeze, seizure into quarantine, pause/resume and maker-checker approvals.
• Integrate backend services with smart contracts on EVM-compatible networks, ensuring reliable, idempotent and observable blockchain interactions.
• Build event-driven services and signed webhooks that keep issuers, internal systems and ledgers in sync.
• Ensure every issuance action has a complete, tamper-evident audit trail that reconciles with downstream accounting systems.
• Work with digital assets, ledger, identity and access, financial crime and security teams.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, review code, mentor engineers and own services in production, including monitoring, alerting and incident response.

Required profile

• Strong, proven experience as a backend engineer building production systems, ideally in Java (Kotlin also welcome) with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing microservices and event-driven architectures, ideally with Kafka or similar.
• Experience building high-integrity transactional systems where correctness, idempotency and auditability matter.
• Experience designing REST APIs and secure webhook integrations for external customers.
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS), containerisation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid grasp of secure coding, access control and role-based permissions in regulated environments.
• Ability to take ownership, communicate clearly and work in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
• Uses AI tools and agentic workflows to speed delivery and improve quality.
