Senior SHE Manager – Nationwide (UK)

About the role

Joseph Gallagher Group is seeking a senior Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) Manager to lead safety excellence across its civil and infrastructure portfolio throughout the UK. The role is hands‑on, high‑visibility and involves extensive travel, long shifts and a commitment to a "Living Incident Free Everyday" culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and embed the LIFE safety culture across all projects and depots.
• Develop, deliver and monitor audit programmes to ensure ISO 45001, ISO 45003 and internal SHEQ compliance.
• Oversee risk assessments, RAMS, incident investigations and performance reporting.
• Manage, mentor and deploy a team of SHE Advisors.
• Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors and clients to promote safe working environments and improve environmental performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of SHE experience in major civil projects, preferably tunnelling or similarly complex works.
• Proven experience managing SHE teams on high‑risk construction sites.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to work long hours and extended periods away from home.

Required skills

• NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
• CMIOSH (strongly preferred).
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification.
• Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA).
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 45003 standards.
