Senior Safety Officer – Mining & Construction

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Safety Officer to join our fast‑growing civil engineering client in Krugersdorp. The role supports multiple mining sites, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with legislation and ISO standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct weekly safety audits across mining sites.
• Compile, review and approve safety files.
• Ensure compliance with Mine Health & Safety legislation and client requirements.
• Implement, monitor and maintain ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems.
• Assist with ISO 9001 Quality Management System compliance.
• Participate in internal and external ISO audits and manage corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain PPE compliance and site safety standards.
• Coach and mentor site teams on safe working practices.
• Maintain accurate safety records and statutory documentation.
• Collaborate with Operations and Project Management to improve safety performance.

Required profile

• 8–10 years’ experience as a Safety Officer in mining or heavy construction.
• Current SACPCMP registration (essential).
• Extensive experience working on mining sites.
• Strong administrative, reporting and auditing skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Own reliable transport and willingness to travel between sites.
