Senior Risk Analyst - Android Lending
FairMoney · Cape Town
Job description
About the role
FairMoney, a mobile banking institution focused on emerging markets, is hiring a Senior Risk Analyst to own a material credit-strategy workstream within its Android lending portfolio in Nigeria. This is a hands-on, P&L-impacting credit strategy and succession role, not just monitoring or reporting. The role is remote for candidates in South Africa and other countries, and hybrid for those in Nigeria and India.
Key responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end performance of the assigned Android workstream, build a prioritised strategy and delivery roadmap aligned to the annual business plan, and review budget versus actual performance
- Manage approval, disbursal, exposure, revenue, risk-adjusted gross profit, ECL, FPD, roll-rate, PAR, NPL, customer value and recoverability metrics, and identify material risk, economic leakage and growth opportunities
- Design and improve eligibility, PD cut-offs, offers and pricing, DTI and affordability treatment, top-up and consolidation eligibility, repeat-customer growth, high-risk treatments and customer routing logic
- Translate recommendations into decision-engine rules and parameters, write SQL, analytical code and decision logic where needed, and define testing, validation and rollout plans
- Work with the Android portfolio leadership team and cross-functional partners, and act as the recognised owner of the workstream, mentoring others and deputising for the Lead Risk Manager when required
Required profile
- 4-7+ years in consumer credit risk, credit strategy, lending analytics or portfolio management
- Strong experience in digital unsecured lending, consumer finance, credit cards, overdrafts, BNPL or a related environment
- Evidence of owning a material credit-strategy workstream
- Strong understanding of PD, LGD, EAD, vintages, roll rates, FPD, PAR, NPL, ECL, pricing, offers, tenure, exposure and NPV
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
Required skills
- Strong SQL
- Comfort with Python, R or equivalent analytical tooling
- Ability to turn credit strategy into decision-engine requirements and production rules
What we offer
- 25 days paid vacation and sick and public holidays for B2B contractors
- Remote work with significant CET timezone overlap
- Training and development budget and paid company business trips
The recruitment process includes a screening interview, a business case study technical interview and a final interview with the Chief Credit Officer.
