Senior Restaurant Manager

About the role

Babylonstoren is seeking an experienced and energetic Senior Restaurant Manager to join its Food & Beverage leadership team. This senior management role focuses on operational excellence, team development, service standards, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of Babel and Ou Bakkery.
• Ensure seamless 5‑star service flow, effective planning, and consistent execution.
• Drive SOP compliance, service standards, food safety, and the Babylonstoren Way.
• Manage labour costs, inventory, breakages, and waste control.
• Develop staff and future managers through training and coaching.
• Drive wine knowledge, product knowledge, and sales performance.
• Ensure accurate administration, reporting, and follow‑up.
• Build strong relationships with guests, hotel guests, and team members.
• Form part of the senior leadership team for Babel, Ou Bakkery, and Functions/Events.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years’ management experience within premium restaurants, hotels, lodges, or wine estates.
• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English (spoken and written).
• Strong experience in restaurant operations and staff management.
• Good understanding of labour control, stock control, and cost management.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills.
• Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
• Willing and able to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
