Senior Project Manager – Life Insurance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead strategic, end‑to‑end projects within the life insurance domain. The role is based in Johannesburg and requires immediate availability to drive complex business and technology initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of multiple concurrent strategic projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget and scope.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, timelines and risk registers.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors and senior management.
• Manage project governance, reporting and steering‑committee presentations.
• Identify, assess and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Oversee change management and stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate cross‑functional resources to achieve business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10+ years of experience managing complex projects, preferably in the insurance sector.
• Proven experience in life insurance projects is highly preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or Scrum certification (or equivalent).
