Senior Lecturer – Risk Management & Finance

About the role

The School of Economic Sciences seeks a Senior Lecturer to strengthen its teaching and research portfolio in Risk Management, Banking, Finance and Investment Management. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community, contribute to curriculum development and support student success.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate modules in risk management, finance and related subjects.
• Supervise Master’s students to successful completion.
• Conduct and publish peer‑reviewed research in accredited journals.
• Engage with professional bodies and community outreach initiatives.
• Integrate quantitative tools and data‑driven case studies into teaching.

Required profile

• PhD (NQF Level 10) in Risk Management, Finance or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum three years of teaching, learning and research experience in the relevant fields.
• Track record of supervising at least one Master’s thesis.
• Publication of at least two peer‑reviewed articles.
• Professional membership (e.g., GARP, PRMIA, CFA Society South Africa) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong competence in R for data analysis and statistical modelling.
• Strong competence in Python for forecasting and research applications.
