Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

This senior internal audit position is ideal for a driven professional seeking growth in a dynamic audit and risk environment, primarily serving financial‑services clients. The successful candidate will help raise audit quality and actively mentor junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute and report on end‑to‑end internal audits, including risk assessments and control testing.
• Prepare well‑structured, reviewable working papers and draft clear, commercially aware findings and management action plans.
• Engage directly with senior client management (CFOs, GMs, Heads of Function) during fieldwork and findings discussions.
• Mentor and review the work of junior auditors, providing constructive feedback.
• Utilise CAATs and data‑analytics techniques where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of post‑qualification internal audit experience, preferably within financial services (banking, asset management, insurance, fintech, healthcare).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced team.
• Motivated, proactive and detail‑oriented.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Experience with audit management software.
• Solid understanding of internal audit methodologies and risk‑control frameworks such as COSO and IIA Standards.
• Ability to prepare high‑quality working papers and draft findings.
• Experience with Computer‑Assisted Audit Techniques (CAATs) and continuous auditing.
