Senior Hardware Design Engineer

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join a growing Research & Development team. The role involves leading the design and development of innovative electronic hardware and embedded software products from concept through to production, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end research, design, integration and testing of new electronic hardware and embedded software solutions, meeting international standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform hands‑on hardware engineering in the laboratory, including prototype build, bring‑up, measurement and debugging.
• Drive design reviews and collaborate with cross‑functional teams (R&D, manufacturing, quality, supply chain) and external partners to resolve design challenges.
• Prepare production data packs (drawings, BOMs, specifications) and support the transition of new designs into manufacturing.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate performance, safety and reliability, and guide products through qualification and certification.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering; postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
• 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware and embedded software design, with a proven track record of taking products from concept to production.
• Background in product development/R&D environments such as electronics, automotive, IoT or similar high‑tech industries.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal transport.

Required skills

• Strong ECAD/PCB design skills (Altium or similar).
• Embedded programming expertise in C/C++ for microcontrollers.
• Knowledge of microcontroller architectures (ARM Cortex, PIC, etc.).
• Familiarity with regulatory/industry standards (EMC/EMI, ISO quality).
• Hands‑on lab experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters and logic analysers.
