Senior Financial Controller – Private Equity (Remote, Cape Town)

About the role

We are looking for a senior‑level Finance Controller to join a private‑equity‑backed portfolio company. The role is fully remote based in Cape Town and works closely with the CFO and global executive team.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver monthly management accounts with accurate commentary.
• Drive a reliable month‑end close process and maintain balance‑sheet integrity.
• Maintain strong financial controls and governance across the business.
• Lead the year‑end audit, act as primary contact for auditors and ensure timely delivery of audit deliverables.
• Oversee end‑to‑end accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash processes, ensuring timely billing, collections and supplier payments.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of three finance professionals, setting objectives and KPIs.
• Support the CFO with private‑equity reporting, providing performance insights and stakeholder updates.
• Identify and implement process improvements, strengthen internal controls and support systems enhancements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial control and reporting within a fast‑paced, private‑equity‑backed environment.
• Hands‑on experience with UK GAAP (FRS 102) or IFRS and statutory account preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage month‑end close, audit processes and stakeholder reporting.
• Experience leading a small finance team and driving continuous improvement.
• Strong partnership skills with external auditors and banking partners.
