Senior Financial Accountant (Retail)

About the role

A growing pet care retailer is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team. The role ensures accurate recording, reporting and analysis of financial transactions so that decisions are informed and compliance with accounting standards and regulations is maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Rental management: review rental schedules and supporting documents against invoices and leases, process validated data into IQ Retail, reconcile against the Property Lease Schedule, liaise with landlords on utilities and investigate variances, prepare the monthly lease smoothing provision workbook, process rental and utilities through the accounting system, compile the turnover rent schedule and maintain the rental creditors age analysis.
• Debtor management: manage debtor invoicing and reconciliations, send statements and follow up on amounts due, maintain the debtors age analysis (under 30 days), allocate payments accurately, and compile promotional, discount and rebate reports.
• Voucher management: submit vouchers on time, reconcile voucher records and recover outstanding vouchers.
• Reporting: Auto Order reports and invoicing, monthly rental and utilities reporting, promotional revenue reports, invalid voucher and discount reporting, and promotion schedule and expected cost reporting.
• Financial support: month-end processing including provisions, assistance with year-end audits, and ad-hoc support to other departments such as property and marketing.

Required profile

• 2-4 years of experience in a financial accounting role.
• Degree in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• Effective communication, organisation and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements and a deadline-driven approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, with a focus on Excel.
