Senior Engineering Manager

About the role

The client, a leading mining operation, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to provide strategic leadership for engineering activities in underground mining. This senior position reports to senior management and is responsible for ensuring engineering excellence across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering teams delivering underground mining projects.
• Oversee the development, implementation and compliance of engineering standards and procedures.
• Coordinate with operations, safety and regulatory bodies to maintain the Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manage engineering budgets.
• Represent the engineering function in senior management forums.

Required profile

• NQF Level 8: Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (essential).
• Postgraduate qualification such as MBA/MBL is advantageous.
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Mines and Works.
• Minimum 15 years progressive experience in the mining sector with substantial engineering leadership in underground operations.
• Professional registration with a recognized engineering body.
