Senior Engineer – Water and Wastewater

About the role

As a Senior Engineer in Water and Wastewater, you will lead complex infrastructure projects that support sustainable growth and resilient communities across South Africa and selected international markets. The role spans the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to construction close‑out, and offers the chance to make a lasting social and environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, design and delivery of bulk water and wastewater projects, including pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment works.
• Perform hydraulic modelling and engineering analyses to support design decisions.
• Prepare feasibility studies, concept reports, detailed designs, specifications, tender and contract documentation.
• Provide construction monitoring, contract administration and technical support during implementation.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technologists, technicians, CAD staff and specialist sub‑consultants.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, client requirements, legislative obligations and the company’s Quality Management System.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, tender submissions and client presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote continuous professional development.

Required profile

• BEng, BSc (Eng) or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
• 8–12 years post‑graduate experience in bulk water and wastewater infrastructure planning, design and implementation.
• Proven experience designing pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities.

Required skills

• Hydraulic modelling software.
• Autodesk suite (AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, etc.).
• Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
• Working knowledge of GCC, NEC and FIDIC contract forms.
