Senior Cybersecurity Specialist / Security Architect (CISSP)

About the role

The CISSP‑certified Senior Cybersecurity Specialist / Security Architect will lead and execute security initiatives, protecting company assets, infrastructure and client environments. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on technical implementation, governance, risk management and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement security architecture, policies and standards aligned with business goals and risk appetite.
• Lead risk assessments, threat modelling and vulnerability management programmes.
• Advise executives on security posture and risk.
• Design, deploy and maintain secure systems across networks, cloud and applications.
• Oversee Identity & Access Management, SIEM/SOAR, firewalls, DLP, endpoint security and encryption strategies.
• Lead incident response, forensics and root‑cause analysis during security events.
• Partner with DevOps/IT teams to embed secure development and operations practices.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as POPIA, GDPR, ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Produce security metrics, dashboards and board‑level reports; support audit readiness and certification efforts.
• Mentor junior security engineers and analysts and support team training and professional growth.

Required profile

• CISSP certification (ISC²) – mandatory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity roles.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, OWASP).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
