Senior Back-End Developer – Java & JEE

About the role

Labournet is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to design, build and maintain Java‑based applications supporting payroll and HR solutions. The role will work within a collaborative technology team in Johannesburg, ensuring clean code and secure, up‑to‑date systems.

Key responsibilities

• Transfer skills and promote cross‑collaboration within the technology environment.
• Write clean, efficient Java EE code following architecture guidelines.
• Review, test and debug code from team members.
• Prioritise and execute tasks across the software development lifecycle.
• Schedule product releases with internal teams.
• Document development phases and maintain secure applications.
• Assist in incident resolution.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software development experience with Java.
• 2–3 years of experience using MS SQL.
• 4+ years with JEE; Spring experience advantageous.
• 3–4 years with Angular 2+ and front‑end technologies (CSS, JavaScript) advantageous.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and Agile methodology.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
• Experience in payroll/HR or financial services is a plus.
