Senior Accountant / Junior Financial Manager

About the role

A well‑established packaging business in Pretoria’s Moot area has recently joined a larger group and is entering a period of change. The role offers a hands‑on opportunity for a finance professional to own the full financial function while improving systems, controls and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the complete financial function, including debtors, creditors and bookkeeping.
• Prepare management accounts, financial statements and manage VAT, tax and other statutory requirements.
• Monitor cash flow, identify pressure points and implement steps to maintain healthy liquidity.
• Maintain strong financial controls, accurate reporting and oversee stock, inventory and distribution accounting.
• Track stock movements, costing, margins and inventory values, and manage financial aspects of imported goods.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiencies.
• Liaise with external auditors and support audit requirements.
• Collaborate with the Group Financial Manager on reporting, controls and group‑wide financial matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of full‑function accounting experience with strong management accounting skills.
• Solid understanding of stock, inventory and distribution accounting, preferably in an importing, distribution or manufacturing environment.
• Qualified Professional Accountant (SAIPA, AGA or CIMA) and fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
• Proven ability to assess existing processes, introduce improvements and work hands‑on while keeping a strategic view.
