Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Senior Accountant to lead our bookkeeping and accounting functions in Durban North. You will be responsible for accurate financial record‑keeping, reporting, and supporting branch audits while contributing to budgeting and compliance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and post accounts.
• Reconcile and balance accounts, process journals, and complete month‑end entries.
• Prepare financial statements, including trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets.
• Verify source documents such as invoices and receipts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, process payments and VAT submissions.
• Assist with budgeting, annual audits, and monthly branch audits, including stock and asset verification.
• Maintain an organised filing system for all financial records.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• Detail‑oriented, trustworthy, and able to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong bookkeeping and financial reporting abilities.
• Excellent reconciliation and account management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Xero accounting software (advantageous).
